Hundreds of people celebrated Holi, the festival of colours, in Shivamogga on Saturday. They threw powder paint and coloured water at each other, danced, and sang at several traffic junctions, while many spent half of the day riding bikes holding colours across the city.
Gopi Circle witnessed a huge gathering, where people danced to popular tunes and threw colours at each other. A few people were seen hitting their friends with eggs, as part of the celebrations. The residents of Kote Road, Gandhi Bazar, and several other locations in the city joined the celebrations. They greeted each other by applying colours and dancing together.
Youth celebrating the festival were seen riding two-wheelers and cars while ignoring traffic rules. The traffic police diverted vehicles moving towards Gopi Circle and Nehru Road.
The district administration had deployed policemen at different locations to avoid any untoward incident during the celebrations.
