No calls were made to over Aaditya’s ‘role’ in Disha Salian case: Sanjay Raut

After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane claimed that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray attempted to conceal his son Aaditya Thackeray’s involvement in Disha Salian’s death, Shiv Sena (UBT) Sanjay Raut on Sunday (March 23, 2025) dismissed the claims and said, “No calls were made and all these statements are made to defame the Thackeray family.”

Mr. Rane on Saturday claimed to have received a call from Mr. Uddhav Thackeray’s personal assistant, asking him not to mention Mr. Aaditya Thackeray’s name in Salian’s death. The celebrity manager died in 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of an apartment building in Malad.

Mr. Raut slammed the BJP for playing “politics of death”. “BJP does not even leave the deceased alone, capitalising on dead bodies and causing trouble to innocent families,” he said.

Disregarding Mr. Rane’s statement, he said, “I discussed the matter with Uddhav Thackeray and his PA Milind Narvekar; both denied making such a call or having any such conversation. There is a limit to a lie. In fact, when he was arrested in 2021, Uddhav Thackeray received a call from his family and Home Minister Amit Shah to handle the situation lightly. So that day, Uddhav instructed the police to set him free. Shall these things be spoken in public?” 

Calling Mr. Rane’s statement “unfortunate”, Mr. Raut pointed out that the politics in Maharashtra was now reaching families, which was never the case earlier.

Sushant Singh Rajput case

On the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)‘s closure report on actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Salian’s father’s lawyer Nilesh Ojha said the court could still take congnisance and order further investigation in the case, similar to what happened in the Aarushi Talwar case. “The report holds no value before law, as no clean chit has been given.”

Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. CBI submitted a closure report on Saturday, giving a clean chit to actor Rhea Chakraborty.
