JJM: Somanna hits back at Siddaramaiah

Responding to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s criticism of the Centre over inadequate allocation of funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission, Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, said that the Congress had the habit of blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its failures.

He took to X (formerly Twitter), saying ‘’The Congress government’s long-standing tradition of failing Karnataka and blaming the Central govt won’t work anymore.

‘’Your government is quick to point fingers but gets paralyzed when it comes to delivering results. Built on false Guarantees, your govt is collapsing under its own failures—yet instead of taking responsibility, you conveniently shift the blame to the Central Government. Karnataka is being forced to drink from the well of inefficiency, while your governance has left the state high and dry.”

“The Jal Jeevan Mission, envisioned by PM @narendramodiji, was meant to ensure clean drinking water for every rural household. But @siddaramaiah and his government have drowned it in delays and mismanagement. Jal Jeevan Mission ranking: 22nd out of 34. Is this the ‘Congress Model’ of governance?’’, he questioned.

Later, Mr. Somanna said in Mysuru that the Centre was prepared to cooperate with the State government to streamline its implementation mechanism and ‘’iron out the irregularities. Modi will not allow siphoning of funds meant for the poor and it will reach those who need it most,” he added.

The Minister said that he disputed the claims of Mr. Siddarmaiah and that it was nothing but a bundle of lies. It did not behove such a senior leader though Congress is in the habit of peddling lies, he added. I have released figures and statistics to counter Mr. Siddaramaiah and will share the same with the media as well,” Mr. Somanna added.
