A day after the II PU examination was over, the SSLC examination commenced in Mysuru district on Friday. It was held in 153 centres in the district, including 43 centres in the city.
The first day of the examination went off smoothly with no reports of untoward incidents or malpractices. In total, 39,103 students appeared for the examination in the district.
The exam halls at every SSLC centre have CCTV surveillance, besides webcasting. The webcasting of the examination is monitored at the control room set up in the Deputy Commissioner’s office here.
The students had been barred from carrying mobile phones and electronic devices such as smart watches and earphones. Wearing of full-armed shirts and shoes was also prohibited.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) S.T. Javare Gowda and officials from the department inspected the centres in the city and ensured the smooth conduct of the examination. Flying squads also monitored the examination, which will conclude on April 4.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivaraj visited the control room where the webcasting was being monitored and inspected the arrangements.
Mysuru district put up an impressive performance in the SSLC examination (class 10 exam-I) last year, securing 7th place with 85.50% of students passing the exam. In 2023, the district stood in 19th place in the State. Schools in the district had been asked to work towards improving the results in 2024 since Mysuru is a key education hub. The district bounced back, improving its performance in the exam last year.
Meanwhile in Mandya district, as many as 20,469 students, including 10,661 boys and 9,835 girls, were appearing for the examination this year.
In total, the examination in the district is being conducted in 62 centres and each centre has a headmaster as the chief superintendent, besides paper custodians. Each block in the centre has a nodal officer to oversee the examination process.
Rooms in every examination centre are equipped with CCTV cameras and arrangements have been done for the webcasting of the entire process. Officers have been appointed to monitor the examination process based on the footage accessed from the cameras installed at the centres in the district.
To facilitate transportation for students, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had been asked to operate timely services on the designated routes, especially in the rural areas, so that they can reach their centres on time. The district administration had asked the KSRTC to ensure there was no delay in operating the buses in order to prevent inconvenience to the students.
A control room has been set up at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandya to closely monitor the examination with all the centres under CCTV surveillance and measures taken for the webcasting of the examination process.
