The Tirumala police rescued a four-year-old girl and reunited her with her parents within a couple of hours after she had gone missing.
According to the police, Deekshita, daughter of K. Karunashree and K. Narasimhulu, went missing at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthansms’ Asthana Mandapam, located in front of the main temple, on Monday late in the evening.
Acting swiftly on her parents’ complaint, the police immediately informed Tirupati SP Harshavardhan Raju, who ordered the senior police officials and law enforcement teams to share the details on wireless and WhatsApp groups and activate their informers. An intense vehicle check was also conducted across the district, and allied units were alerted through the command control centre.
Meanwhile, the police found CCTV footage showing a woman boarding an APSRTC bus with the girl. Based on the feedback provided by the local sanitary workers, they swooped down on the residence of the accused, Venkataramani (50), at Chinnakapu layout, abutting Tirupati bus station. They rescued the girl from the woman and reunited her with her parents.
SP Raju commended the police teams for their prompt action.
