Pawan Kalyan is learnt to have made the case for giving an MLC ticket to his elder brother and JSP general secretary Nagababu, during his meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Assembly in Amaravati on Monday.

Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president K. Pawan Kalyan met the Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Legislative Assembly on Monday and discussed a host of issues, including the elections to five MLA quota seats in the Legislative Council scheduled to be held on March 20.
Apart from matters related to his portfolio, like improving rural road network, and supplying drinking water to all households under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Mr. Kalyan is learnt to have once again endorsed the candidature of his elder brother and JSP general secretary K. Nagababu for the said elections.
Mr. Nagababu was earlier tipped to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Mr. Naidu had in December 2024 announced his induction into the State Cabinet but did not allot any portfolio to him till date.
Against this backdrop, Mr. Kalyan is learnt to have made the case for giving an MLC ticket to Mr. Nagababu, which, according to a TDP leader, had already been approved and it was only a matter of time before he got nominated.
In 2019 general elections, Mr. Nagababu was relegated to the third position in the Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency. The present Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, who was then in the YSR Congress Party, was the winner at that time.
Meanwhile, of the five MLC seats going to the polls, the JSP and BJP are asking for one each and the NDA partners are taking various factors into consideration for picking the candidates.
