District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) E.B. Devi on Wednesday inaugurated the Cy-Tb skin test facility at the District Tuberculosis (TB) Control Office here. She said that the test is being exclusively designed to detect TB infection among the vulnerable groups, which will help in early detection of the disease.
Dr. Anupama James, District TB Control Officer, explained the importance of the Cy-Tb test, saying that it is a strategic initiative of the Union government to eradicate tuberculosis via early detection.
Dr. Prashant, a representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that the test is meant for detection of TB infection, while all the government hospitals and sub-centres were equipped to treat TB effectively, free of cost. He urged the public to avail the facility of early TB detection and contribute to the mission of a TB-free society.
The DMHO urged the medical and paramedical staff to ensure the effective implementation of the test at the field-level to get optimal results.
