A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Kulathupuzha police on charges of raping a 55-year-old woman in Ponmudi. The woman was living alone in an estate layam, the Ponmudi police said. The accused, identified as Rajan hailing from Kalluvettankuzhi, Kulathupuzha, had allegedly forced his way into her room and attacked her on Sunday night. The victim herself had alerted the Ponmudi police about the incident. Reportedly, the layam has accommodations for ten people. But at present, only the victim and the accused were staying there.
