Kerala Police on Sunday arrested a suspected drug syndicate kingpin from Bengaluru during an operation conducted under the ongoing Operation D-Hunt crackdown on drug peddling that has resulted in several thousands of arrests and significant seizures of narcotic substances.
The accused, Alan Philip, 25, of Pathanamthitta, was apprehended by the Chirayinkeezhu Police. The arrest is related to the seizure of 127 grams of MDMA in Chirayinkeezhu in December last. The Thiruvananthapuram Rural Police had arrested two suspects in that particular operation.
According to the police, Alan, who has been residing in Bengaluru, is believed to be a key figure of the synthetic drug in southern States, particularly Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The habitual offender also has several cases registered against him in Tamil Nadu related to drug trafficking. He is known to target students of educational institutions in Kerala.
