Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought the appointment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a delegation of all the parties from Telangana under his leadership to apprise him of the two Bills passed by the Assembly and seek his support for clearance from the Central government.
In a letter to the Prime Minister on Monday, Mr. Reddy said the Assembly passed the Bill — The Telangana Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Education Institutions and Appointments or Posts in the Services under State) Bill, 2025) for enhancement of reservation in Educational Institutions and appointments in the Public Services in the State for the Backward Classes from 29% to 42%.
Similarly, another Bill related to Telangana Backward Classes (Reservation of Seats in Rural and Urban Local Bodies) Bill, 2025) for enhancement of reservation in Local Bodies for Backward Classes to 42% was also passed.
Both the Bills received unanimous support and endorsement of all the political parties and it was also suggested during the discussion that the support of Government of India has to be solicited in the matter.
The CM said the representatives of Indian National Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Bharatiya Janata Party, All India Majlis-e-ittehadul Muslimeen and Communist Party of India would like to meet him to solicit the support of Government of India on the Bills.
