Restaurant gutted in fire near Kundannoor

A restaurant near the Kundannoor Bypass Junction was fully gutted in fire on Friday (February 28, 2025) night. Though the eatery, Hotel Empire Plaza, was fully destroyed, no one was hurt in the incident, according to fire and rescue officials.

Fire broke out from the Thandoori grill of the hotel by 11 p.m. and spread to the kitchen. The fire did not spread to other structures as it was confined to the kitchen, said K. Rajeshkumar, station officer of the Gandhi Nagar fire station.

Efforts by rescue workers from a nearby mall too helped in containing the blaze. Fire and rescue workers from Gandhi Nagar and Thrikkakara participated in the mission, Mr. Rajeshkumar said.
