SVIMS University Director and Vice-Chancellor R.V. Kumar releasing the annual report, ‘Akanksha 2025’, at the institute’s 32nd foundation day in Tirupati on Wednesday.
The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) University is all set to launch Sri Balaji Institute of Oncology (Sri Bio) in two months, said its Director and Vice-Chancellor (V-C) R.V. Kumar.
In his address during the 32nd foundation day of SVIMS, at its campus here on Wednesday, Dr. Kumar explained that the new institute would focus extensively on cancer research and would become a pioneering institute in the State.
SVIMS has tied up with prestigious institutions such as IIT, IISER, Aravind Eye Hospital and scores of universities in Tirupati for mutual cooperation in the sharing of knowledge and infrastructure. An MoU was also recently inked with a United Kingdom-based institute for faculty sharing.
The V-C announced that postgraduate programmes in Ophthalmology, Dental, ENT will be launched soon. Registrar Aparna R. Bitla presented the annual report, ‘Akanksha 2025’, on the occasion. Gold medals were presented to seven doctors exhibiting excellent performance in duty, while a gold medal was presented to an MBBS student and a staff nurse respectively. Dr. Kumar also distributed prizes to the students who were declared the winners in the sports and cultural events.
Dean Alladi Mohan, Medical Superintendent Ram, Sri Padmavati Medical College for Women (SPMCW) principal Usha Kalawat, controller of exams V. Vanajakshamma, dental head D.S. Madhubabu, Physiotherapy College principal P. Madhavi, Nursing College principal Sudha Rani, and Biotechnology head P.V.G.K. Sarma were also present at the event.
