Man detained for smuggling foreign currency at RGIA

Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Tuesday detained a passenger attempting to smuggle foreign currency, including Saudi Arabian Riyals and US Dollars.

Currency worth ₹22 lakh was seized from him.

The passenger, who was scheduled to travel to Dubai, concealed the foreign currency within his luggage in an attempt to evade detection. Airport authorities became suspicious of his movements and detained him for further inspection.

A thorough search of his luggage led to the recovery and seizure of the smuggled currency.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
